One provincial group is trying to fight back against the growing number of youth who are choosing to smoke.

According to data from the 2017 Canadian Tobacco Alcohol and Drug survey, 22% of youths between the age of 15 and 19 in Saskatchewan are smoking compared to the national average of 8%.

The Saskatchewan Coalition for Tobacco Reduction believes part of the reason may be because of the province's outdated Tobacco Control Act - which hasn't been updated in nearly a decade.

The Coalition for Tobacco Reduction has suggested the province ban flavours in all tobacco products, ban smoking in more outdoor areas, and ban the sale of tobacco in more locations.
