Eluding to the problems that last council had with fighting and inability to come to agreements on a regular basis, Mayor Fraser Tolmie gave his new year's address last night to kick off the 2017 year in council chambers.

The overall tone of his speech was one of teamwork and a need for success when faced with the challenges of a new year.

"Let us not dwell on what divided us in the past but face 2017 with a renewed sense of purpose." said Tolmie. "The mandate that has been entrusted to this council is to set a clear vision for the future."

Tolmie was elected mayor just this past fall and his campaign style speech Monday night was filled with optimism and hope, but also made mention of the troubles this new council will face in the years to come.
