The southwest and south central part of the province was instead pumbled with rain and high winds.

Conditions remain favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, damaging hail and heavy rain.

A significant line of severe thunderstorms has developed over southwestern SK and is ongoing. The threat for tornadoes has diminished, however there is still the risk for the development of a tornado embedded in the line while the thunderstorms are ongoing.

Dan Kulak is a meteorologist with Environment Canada. He says one of the deadliest aspects of a severe storm is a part people sometimes forget about.

"We sometimes forget about lightning though. Lightning actually is the greatest threat. It doesn't sound like it, but lightning does kill more people in Canada per year than rain, hail, severe winds, tornadoes, and hurricanes combined. So really, lightning is your biggest summer threat."
