The ride-sharing company URide has decided to start offering free rides for all essential workers Canada-wide, including in Moose Jaw.

The initiative was spawned by the company wanting to somehow give back to essential workers.

Founder and CEO of URide, Cody Ruberto

"Right now, pretty much anyone who's traveling to and from work in Moose Jaw, we're going to give them a free ride. They can send us an email and we will send them credit for a free ride up to $20. They will need to include their phone number and we will send them a promo code. They just have to download the URide App and input that code that we give them when they book a ride, and it'll be free."

Ruberto says the reaction so far has been overwhelmingly positive.

"People have been shocked. They are a little skeptical when they first email us, as they think it’s too good to be true. When they actually get a free ride, they’re thrilled."

Those interested in taking advantage of the offer can email support@uridetech.com with their name, phone number, and job description, and they will send you a promo code in return. The deal will be in place until lockdown lifts in Ontario - which is where their head office is.

"We're doing it until the end of lockdown in Ontario, so for at least another two weeks. If the lockdowns get extended, we'll extend it in Moose Jaw as well.

"We’ll do whatever we can to help the community during this period," says Ruberto, "And we’ll get through this together.
