A message the Moose Jaw Police Service sent out a few months ago is ringing true for one local business.

The Police Service warned people to lock up their vehicles when they are left running to warm up, or be prepared that someone may see the warming vehicle as an opportunity to commit theft.

A downtown business was warming various vehicles on Friday afternoon for customers to take on test drives when one of those vehicles left the lot - without a salesman in the passenger seat.

A witness nearby said an employee in a second vehicle saw the incident and followed the culprit, and watched as the suspect eventually began to run on foot. The Moose Jaw Police Service were called to the scene of the crime and quickly called upon the K9 Unit to aid in the investigation according to the witness.

The vehicle has been recovered. We're still waiting on more updates from the Moose Jaw Police Service on whether they have made arrests or laid charges.
