The Western Development Museum had its 4th annual Volunteer Blitz January 18th, in the hopes of recruiting some new volunteers.

It was meant for people who want to know more and for people who are looking to get started.

Karla Rassmussen is the Education and Public Programs Coordinator for the WDM, she detailed more about the event.

"This is something we started when we found we were having a lack of volunteers at some of our special events and it's just kind of grown from there. This year was great we had just over 25 folks who came out and we like to think of it more as an awareness event so sometimes people think that we just do children's programs here or that we only restore old cars. We do both but we also have lots of things in between so this is a great opportunity for us to share those opportunities with more people."

Rassmussen says there is something to do for everyone at the WDM.

"All ages and all backgrounds. We have volunteers from as young as seven all the way up to almost 99 so we have lots of folks from varying backgrounds. We do allow children to come if they are with a supervisor, we have families that come and volunteer together and we change things up all the time."

Rassmussen added that if someone wasn't able to make it to the museum yesterday, they can always visit the museum or go online to get the application form.
