Curling fans can look forward to another curling championship tournament right here, in the Friendly City.

Announced this week by Curling Canada, the 2021 Wheelchair Curling Championships will be played March 21-27 at the Moose Jaw Ford Curling Centre.

Moose Javian Moose Gibson, who played lead for the 2016 gold medal team and alternate two years later for Saskatchewan, will be the chair of the 2021 Moose Jaw host committee.

"It's great that Curl Moose Jaw has stepped forward to take on this event," said Gibson. "It's the second one in southern Saskatchewan, first one in Moose Jaw."

Teams from across the country will gather for the week to compete and to showcase a level of talent that Gibson says curling fans really need to see to believe.

"I'm looking forward to seeing a lot of people come out and take in curling. They know curling; they need to see some wheelchair curling, and really appreciate the talent that so many of these players have across the country."

Moose Jaw is of course set to host the Scotties Tournament of Hearts next year. Other past events in Moose Jaw have included the 2012 Canada Cup, the 1983 World Women’s Championship, the 1979 World Junior Men’s Championship and the 1994 Canadian Senior Men’s and Women’s Championships.
