The potential for a protein processing facility in Moose Jaw is getting a lot of attention because the investment in a new industry for the city isn't exactly common. There have been promises before and even some projects started, but nothing of significance that has been completed in a number of years.

But one local consultant believes Moose Jaw's time to shine is on the horizon.  Dwight Mercer has studied the city in preparing new off site development levies. In doing so, he sees our community as ripe for the picking. But why now and not five years ago?

Mercer says it's the recent investment in infrastructure. "What that sends to the private sector is, rather than just talking the talk, the City of Moose Jaw has skin in the game, they are making investments of over $100 million in terms of upgrading the water distribution system."

"That tells the private investor that the city is committed, they're in the game and they have money on the table."

Mercer believes that as the world becomes more unstable, Canada is being viewed as the safe investment and eventually, Moose Jaw will be discovered as having everything industry wants. Cheap land, good access to transportation and solid infrastructure.
