Don't jump on the bandwagon, look at the bulk of evidence.  That from Five Hills Health Region Nutritionist Melanie Warken as a new McMaster University study claims that reducing carbs and eating a moderate amount of fat can help  reduced the risk of premature death.

With low fat trends becoming common place in the world of diets, Warken says it's not just a message of eating more fat, it's really about finding balance and moderation.

"I think those are the key words. As our culture changes, we've lost that sense of moderation because the food environments that we live in are not always supportive of health. We are bombarded with a lot of foods that are high in fats, high in sugar and high in calories but very low in nutrition."

Warken says instead of taking it to the extreme, look for a balance of unsaturated fats, healthy carbs and good protein in your diet while avoiding unhealthy, overly processed foods.
