After months of work, the new play structure at Clark Gillies Park is nearing completion.

This, after the City sent out a survey to local residents asking what they wanted to be added to the playground.

Director of Parks and Recreation with the City of Moose Jaw, Derek Blais, says the feedback was fantastic and that they are excited to add some of the most-requested features.

"Toddler features was a big one, swingsets, the basketball net which we were able to accommodate, picnic tables, accessible pathways, benches, all those types of things. We were able to add a pathway through the park, we added some picnic tables and benches. Those were the big things that came out of the survey and it was great to get the feedback that we did from the public."

Blais tells us when the work is scheduled to be finished.

"We're hitting the final stages here and we're hoping to have everything including the landscaping wrapped up by the end of the month. We are unfortunately about a month behind schedule though; there were some delays in shipping some of the playground equipment, so that put us back a few weeks for sure."

The revitalization is all part of the City's Playground Renewal Program, where they are hoping to revitalize one playground per year over the next several years.

Clark Gillies Park was initially installed over 25 years ago, and select pieces of equipment had to be removed last year after it was deemed unsafe.

The park wasn't the only one in town to receive some upgrades either as some fencing was replaced at Henleaze Park, and benches and picnic tables were added to Optimist Park.
