So far Canada has reported just over 9000 cases of COVID-19, with Ontario reporting it's biggest jump in cases yet today at 426. This is a stark milestone.

Outside of his home at Rideau Cottage, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau gave his daily address to Canadians saying we won't have to force businesses to make medical supplies like the United States has done.

"We so far have seen such an overwhelming response from businesses that we have no need at this point of bringing in a similar act but of course we will always keep an eye on what we need to do in future situations or how we can adjust. The Federal stockpile has been ensuring over the past weeks that there is enough equipment across the country to respond to the needs of the provinces."

Trudeau also highlighted the duty he says all of us Canadians have.

"We all have to answer the call of duty. This is service that most of us have never been called upon to do. Each of us have to live up to our end of the bargain, listening to public health rules is your duty. Staying home is your way to serve so be smart about what you do and the choices you make, that's how you will serve your country."

Trudeau added that on April 6th, you will be able to start applying for the Canada Emergency Response Benefit. If you've already applied for EI, he says it will come automatically to you and there is nothing further you have to do.
