Commuters who use the 4th avenue bridge will have to find an alternate route starting Monday.

The bridge (Thunderbird Viaduct) will be closed from August 10-14 as a thorough assessment takes place The assessment being done includes material testing for the bridge deck, sidewalk, and barrier concrete.

Traffic will be diverted starting at 7 a.m. on Monday, and the stretch of road will be reopened by 7 p.m. on Friday.

Motorists are asked to use either 9th Avenue SW or 1st Avenue SE as detours. Signage will be set up as well.

The work is being completed as part of the Thunderbird Viaduct revitalization project.
