It's not a huge increase by any stretch, but it's a step in the right direction. The latest report on housing vacancy shows a slight increase in the number of places for rent in Moose Jaw.

In 2008, the Friendly City had a vacancy rate of 0.6 percent. A year later and the story hasn't changed much according to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.

The new vacancy report released Wednesday morning shows Moose Jaw experienced a small increase, up from 0.6 percent to 0.8 percent. Although, the cost of the average rent in the city went from $556 in 2008 to $593 in October of 2009.

Regina was tied with Quebec as the centre with the lowest vacancy rates at 0.6 percent well below the national average is 2.8 per cent. You can click here to view the entire report.
