The 2024 Beautification Awards are open for nominations until Friday, July 5, 2024.

The annual awards, which have been granted since 1981, aim to recognize owners who go above and beyond to make their residential yards particularly visually appealing.

“If you have a neighbour that has something that they’re proud of or work really hard on, you can nominate them, or anyone, for a Beautification Award,” explained Scott Osmachenko, recreation services manager with the City of Moose Jaw.

Property owners can also nominate their own yards.

There are four categories including:

South Hill – for properties located south of Manitoba Street

East End – for properties from Main Street North to the eastern boundary of Moose Jaw, and North of Manitoba Street East

Sunningdale/VLA/West Park/Iron Bridge – for those in the Sunningdale, VLA, West Park, or Iron Bridge neighbourhoods

Northwest – for those located on Laurier Street to Manitoba Street West, and Main Street North to Thatcher Drive West

Evaluation criteria include use of colour, site challenges, difficulty and variety of species, and the use of texture and form. You can find the full list here.

You can find a printable entry form by clicking here, or you can pick up a copy at City Hall or at one of the contest’s sponsors: Cornell Design & Landscaping, Windmill Greenhouses, Emerald Custom Creations, or Keon Garden Centre.
