Burton Cummings has been a voice in my life, literally, for most of my life.  I grew up listening to The Guess Who.  How exciting it was then, in 1983, the band reunited and went on tour.  I was in grade 12.  Oh, I was there.  It was one of the best shows I've ever attended.

It seemed surreal.  My friends and I had great seats at the Centre of the Arts, about 15 rows from the stage.  There they were - The Guess Who.  Burton on the baby grand, Randy Bachman on guitar, drummer Garry Peterson and bass player Jim Kale.

They played all their hits for well over two hour.  We were on our feet, dancing, clapping, laughing, rockin' the whole time.  When the final encore finished, we were exhausted.  THEY were exhausted.  Burton's long, curly hair was soaked in sweat, his mustache soaked in beer.

It's hard for me today to comprehend the fact it was 35 years ago.  35 years!

Burton's still rockin'.  He'll play our Mae Wilson Theatre in Moose Jaw - two shows - just before Christmas.  And, once again, it'll seem surreal.
