The city has released the candidate expense reports for the 2020 municipal election, with the mayoral candidates coming in at a total of $21,502.64.

Nancy Nash spent $1,040.47, winning just 5.96 per cent of the vote. John Kot spent $4,872 and won 39 per cent. Fraser Tolmie spent a total of $15,590.17 and elected Mayor with 55 per cent of the vote.

Nash's expenses included $333 on signs as well as $167.81 for office supplies, among others. She had no donors contribute to her campaign.

Among John Kot's expenses were $777 on lawn signs and $4,088.70 on advertising. He received donations from former mayor Deb Higgins and former councillor Brian Swanson among others.

Tolmie spent the most on his campaign and also received the most contributions. His expenses included $5,306.58 on brochures and mail-outs with Minute Man Press, $4,520 on media consultation with JFM Productions, $1,996.48 on digital and radio advertising with 800 CHAB along with other various costs. He received a total of $15,384.75 in donations and covered the rest of his expenses out of pocket.
