It was the summer of 2002.  We were busy here at Golden West Radio - Moose Jaw.  We were busy preparing to make local radio history.

We sent out special invitations with the new logo on letterhead and fridge magnets.  We were encouraging people to tune into 100.7 FM to sample our new radio station, Country 100!  Yes, today is the 18th anniversary of the launch.  We did it at 6 am on this day 18 years ago.

Abbey White was the first disc jockey on Country 100 - the first of a number of wonderful personalities we've enjoyed over the years.  You'll remember Tera Lee and Rustie Dean and Dustin Dion and we'll always remember the warm, friendly voice of the late Jim Strom.

The list of country music stars who have walked into this building over the past 18 years is almost unbelievable.  We've welcomed stars from Terri Clark to Brett Kissel to High Valley and George Canyon.

Country 100 Morning Show host Courtney Fielder has a special connection with country music fans and artists.  It was just last winter when The Hunter Brothers were on their way home to the farm when they decided to land their plane at the Moose Jaw Municipal Airport - just to stop in for a visit with Courtney.  That's special.

Country 100 is special.  Happy anniversary, little sister.
