Carnie's Comments

I was on my way to fill up the gas tank in the truck yesterday when I heard the price is going up again.  I filled up for 187.9 a litre.  The total cost was $129.00.  It's tough to take, isn't it?

It was this morning when I was scrolling through social media that I saw comments about the lack of attendees at the Saskatchewan Roughriders' pre-season game at Mosaic Stadium.  There weren't many there.

I thought of a number of reasons including the fact it was a Tuesday night and hundreds, perhaps thousands of loyal fans are busy with spring seeding.  The game was televised as well.  Oh, and the Stanley Cup Playoffs are on TV.

But then I saw someone comment about the price of fuel.  That could be a factor.  Think about it.  A trip from Moose Jaw to Regina and back is probably going to cost you $50 or $60 if you're in a pick-up truck.  Add in the cost of tickets and dinner and you're up and over $200 for two people to attend a game.

And now I wonder, in fact I worry, about the tourism industry in our province taking a hit this summer because of the price of fuel.
