The Moose Jaw U17 Jam girls' basketball team bowed out in the semifinals at the Basketball Saskatchewan Club Championships in Lloydminster over the weekend. 

The Jam competed in the high school division. There were also boys and girls teams in the U13 and U15 divisions as well. 

Moose Jaw finished the round robin with a 2-1 record to put them into second place in their pool.  

The Jam met the Saskatoon Supernovas in game one. Moose Jaw got off to a slow start, spotting the Supernovas 14 points in the first quarter. The Moose Jaw girls were able to close the gap but fell 44-41 to their Saskatoon rivals. 

Cadey Olson had 16 points for Moose Jaw, while Ireland Guillaume had 10 points. 

Moose Jaw rebounded in the second game against the Phoenix to roll to a 62-21 victory. The Jam controlled most of the game and had a solid showing on defence. Olga Ruberwa led the way with 17 points and Waverly Demassie had 16. 

The Jam closed out the round robin with an 81-51 win over the Comets. Moose Jaw’s outside shooting played a key factor in the win. Kate Waldenberger and Feona Tolentino had 28 points each and Ava Kindiak had 12 points. 

Moose Jaw would face the eventual tournament winners, the Lloydminster Rustlers. It was a defensive battle with a six-point difference for the majority of the game. However, Lloydminster would pull away in the last five minutes to pull out a 55-43 win over Moose Jaw. 

Waldenberger had 12 points to lead the scoring for the Jam. Demassie and Tolentino each had eight points.
