Looking to thrust the friendly city into the national spotlight once again, the City of Moose Jaw is excited to support Moose Jaw Minor Hockey's push to make Moose Jaw the winner of Kraft Hockeyville.

In a statement released Wednesday morning, the city said the Pla-Mor Palace - which houses both Wally Boschuk and Bert Hunt Arenas - would be the beneficiary if Moose Jaw were to win the contest.

Potential upgrade ideas include:

  • Accessibility enhancements to the ice surface, washrooms and parking lot (walkways and ramps).
  • Additional dressing room space to accommodate all users.
  • Referee room improvements.
  • Glass and board replacement.
  • Safety enhancements to players’ benches.
  • Improved spectator areas and heating.
  • Roofing, mechanical and flooring replacements.

The annual competition gives one community in Canada the chance to host an NHL preseason game, plus $250,000 worth of arena improvements.
