The Good Neighbours Group is raising concerns about the hours in which City Hall is open.

Representatives are expected to address city council tonight. According to their letter to address city council, although City Hall is staffed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., it is only open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The group is asking that City Hall be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in order to be more accessible to the public.

Also on the agenda is the first quarter financial report, looking at the city’s finances through the first four months of 2024.

City council will also discuss a couple of applications from residents. One is a rezoning to erect a 24-unit dwelling at 1345 Algoma Ave. The property consists of five lots and just under 15,000 square feet. It is located at the intersection of Algoma Avenue and Laurier Street, so the front yard to the building would be considered on Laurier Street because it is the narrowest road frontage.

The other application is to build a sunroom over a deck in a slumping zone on 297 Grandview St. W. Because the project is in a slumping zone, the application can only be approved with a favourable geotechnical report that shows the project will not impact the slope stability.

Also on the agenda, the city will look to renew its automated speed enforcement agreement with SGI and there will be a request to replace a fire truck.

In executive committee, a tabled matter regarding the city’s parental leave for elected officials policy will once again go before city council.
