An employee at Moose Jaw's Doepker Industries has confirmed that the Moose Jaw plant will be shut down soon.

The worker, who does not wish to be named, says that employees at the trailer manufacturing facility in Moose Jaw were informed Thursday that their last day of work will be December 12, 2015, but that the move is only supposed to be "temporary".

Doepker officials have yet to comment, but this is the latest in what has been a year of struggles for the company, which also has branches in Saskatoon and Anaheim, SK, which is the site of their head office.

Over 20 people were given their notices this past June at the Moose Jaw plant as the company continued to deal with a sharp decline in demand for their trailers. Before then, Doepker had gone through two previous rounds of layoffs dating back to December of 2014, with about 50 people locally and close to 100 across the province laid off at the time.

In March, Doepker President Dave Doepker explained about 15 percent of their business is trailers for the oil and gas industry, and with the price upheaval in that sector, the trickle-down effect impacted their sales.
