South Hill could soon be getting another car wash at the corner of 9th Avenue SW and Vaughn Street.

City Council unanimously passed a discretionary use application to allow for a 7 bay car wash to be built in the currently empty lot.

Director of Planning and Development, Michelle Sanson, says they've heard some concerns about increased traffic in the area but is confident that the lot's design will mitigate such worries.

"The only thing we do have a concern with is the queuing. We want to ensure that all queuing for the car wash is on the site so we would work with the applicant to make sure it happens."

Councillor Heather Eby voiced her support of the project.

"That lot has been empty for a long time and it's my neighbourhood and I don't have a problem with it being there so hopefully everybody else in the area will feel the same way."

The site was previously the home of a service station and daycare before the old building was demolished.
