A resident in their 20s from the north has become Saskatchewan’s 15th person to die with COVID-19 in Saskatchewan.

One new case was reported Tuesday in the province’s daily COVID-19 update – that one being in the Saskatoon region who was tested out of province - while five recoveries were noted. There have been 806 cases in the province.

There are now nine active COVID cases in the south, for a total of 54 active cases in Saskatchewan.

This now brings the province to a total of 646 positive cases, and with a total of 588 recoveries, a total of 54 cases are considered active. Fifteen people who tested positive for COVID-19 have died over the course of the pandemic.

Also, there are four people currently in hospital. Of those, none of them are in intensive care.

Of the 54 currently active cases, 33 are in the far north, seven are in the north, four are in Saskatoon and one in the central region. There are no cases in the Regina region.

Of the 806 provincial cases overall, 168 are travel-related, 482 are community contacts or mass gatherings, 113 have no known exposures and 43 are under investigation by public health.

Fifty-five of the cases are health care workers, and the province says the source of the infections may not be because of their health care in all instances.

A total of 190 of the cases are from the Saskatoon area, 80 are from the Regina area, 119 are from the north, 338 are from the far north, 66 are from the south and 13 are from the central region.

One hundred and sixteen of the cases are of people 19 and younger, and 154 are in the 60-and-older range. Of all of the cases, 51 percent are in female patients and 49 percent are male.

Thus far, 70,294 tests have been performed in Saskatchewan. According to the latest numbers, There has been a rate of 52,252 tests per one million people, compared to the national average of 79,164 per million.

Nationally as of Tuesday afternoon, there have been over 106,100 confirmed cases and over 8,700 deaths from COVID-19. There have also been over 69,800 recoveries. In the United States, there have been over 3.06 million cases and over 133,400 deaths with 1,337,889 recoveries.
