School Community Council elections coming up in just a few days as parents and community members step forward to help out.

It could become an important link between parents, communities, and boards of education. Schools across the province of Saskatchewan are putting together School Community Councils.

Parents will work together with students and staff to improve and develop their schools.

Superintendent of School Services with the Prairie South School Division Jeff Finell says School Community Council Elections begin the week of November 27th, and there's a few things to keep in mind, if you plan on running. "You have to be 18 years of age, a parent of community member in the area, the council is comprised of a principal and teacher as well as five representative parent community members."

If you're interested in becoming involved more information and nomination forms are available at the School Board Office.
