The Bud Guidos rink after scoring their eight-ender last Wednesday at the Moose Jaw Ford Curling Centre.

Golf has the hole-in-one and curling has the eight-ender.  The rare event actually happened last week at the Moose Jaw Ford Curling Centre.

The rink skipped by Bud Guidos pulled off the rare feat during a Wednesday night Senior League game on January 15th, during a two-point win over the Bob Hicks rink.

“We like to think it's a lot of skill, but I do think it's a lot of luck,” said Guidos.  “It's one of those things where the other team tries to take certain things out and they just happen to miss and left the others piled up in the house.”

The eight-ender turned a regular league night game into an exciting one for the local rink, which includes Maxine Hicks, lead; Ed Bekar, second; and Bob Turnbull, third.

“It's not a really big thing, but it's just one those things that happened,” said Guidos.  “It doesn't happen very often though.”

What was Guidos reward for pulling off the rare feat?  He paid for both teams coffee after the game.

“We have a good time together and I always say that when somebody gets an eight-ender, somebody loses an eight-ender too,” said Guidos.

The team will receive a certificate and an eight-ender pin from the Canadian Curling Association in recognition of the event.  This is the second eight-ender in the history of the Moose Jaw Ford Curling Centre.
