Don't be surprised if you're pulled over in your vehicle today or tomorrow.

The Selective Traffic Enforcement Program, or STEP, is setting up in the Notorious City, with Moose Jaw Police Service and RCMP members checking all kinds of personal and commercial vehicles for various infractions.

Sgt. Kevin Pilsworth with the Moose Jaw Police Service explains what is going on in the city.

“We’ve had the opportunity to host a provincial program for the last three or four years, and we’re going to be doing that again (Thursday and Friday) in Moose Jaw and the surrounding area,” Pilsworth said.

As part of a multi agency task force focused on improving traffic safety, police are looking for distracted driving, seatbelt use, speeding and commercial vehicle enforcement.

“We’re thankful to have the extra resources in Moose Jaw over the next few days to look at some of those common offences like speeding, (and) distracted driving, and of course there’s always people driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol that are always a concern for our community,” Pilsworth said.

Pilsworth said he expects there will be at least hundreds of vehicles stopped in the next two days.
