International Women's Day marks a chance to bring attention to all of the issues that effect women.  Here in Moose Jaw, the Transition House is holding a luncheon on Thursday focusing on human trafficking in the sex trade.

Transition House's Joanne Dusel says they have a group from Saskatoon coming to speak on the topic that has come to light in this province, "I'm not sure in Saskatchewan if the type of human trafficking that goes on is similar where people are spirited away from their homes and almost held prisoner.  We do know that in Regina and Saskatoon and throughout Saskatchewan human trafficking in the sense of prostitution, particularly of young women, is a huge issue."

Dusel says the luncheon will be very educational, "They will learn what is being done in Saskatchewan and around the world to combat the sex trade.  They'll gain awareness of the issues and what are some of the vulnerabilities that young women might have that lead them to that sort of lifestyle."

Tickets for the luncheon are only 5 dollars and can be picked up at the Moose Jaw Museum and Art gallery.  It is being held at the Timothy Eaton Centre.
