Looking to start the Father’s Day weekend off with a full stomach? Moose Jaw Family Services is hosting a free pancake brunch at their 200 Main Street South location on Saturday, June 15, from 11 to 2 p.m.

“We ran a Mother’s Day Tea ... so we thought it shouldn’t be all about the moms,” said Tara Jones, Executive Director of Moose Jaw Family Services.

“We work with some pretty amazing dads, so we want to make sure we’re recognizing them as well.”

Jones tells us that the Father’s Day Pancake Brunch, while primarily aimed at fathers and their children, is open to anyone who wishes to attend.

“We want the dads and their kids to come out, but we certainly aren’t going to turn anyone away,” said Jones. “Anyone that is interested, anyone that wants to celebrate their dad or the person that helped raise them.”

Moose Jaw Family Services host events specifically to recognize the importance of dads as part of their roster, including running one of the few dad’s groups within the city.

Ensuring support is available has become especially critical Jones said, noting that studies have shown that fathers have spent considerably more time actively parenting compared to a generation prior.

Jones said that pancakes aren’t the only thing being served up by Moose Jaw Family Services, they will also have members on site to speak about services provided, answer questions and to hand out pamphlets and brochures.
