The snowy weather and road conditions eliminated two teams from the Moose Jaw High School Junior Basketball League playoffs on Monday night.

The Assiniboia Rockets’ junior girls and boys teams had to forfeit their semifinal match-ups due to the terrible road conditions around southern Saskatchewan.

The Peacock Toilers advanced to the junior girls final due to Assiniboia’s forfeit, while the Vanier Red Vikings moved onto the junior boys final. Both Moose Jaw teams were the top ranked teams in their respective divisions.

In the semifinal games that did hit the court on Monday, the Vanier Spirits scored a 44-38 win over the Central Cyclones to secure their spot in the junior girls final.

Gracie Bzdel had 11 points to lead the way for the Spirits, while Bryn Giddings chipped in with nine points. Central’s Tyra Boyko was the game’s top scorer with 13 points in the loss.
