Saskatchewan snuck out a big 7-6 extra end win over Prince Edward Island on Monday afternoon at the 2018 Brier in Regina.

The win improved Saskatchewan’s record to 2-2 through eight draws, which moved them into fourth place in Pool B. The top-four teams in each pool advance into the Championship Pool later this week.

Saskatchewan fourth Matt Dunstone made some big shots down the stretch to pull off the win, including a delicate takeout while facing two P.E.I. stones with his final shot in the 11th end to pull off the win.

“That was one of the coolest,” Dunstone told curling.ca after the game. “To have the crowd behind me on that one and the guys swept it great at the end. It was a great game by the guys, I didn’t play my best, but they kept us in there and luckily I had a shot at the end.”

The Steve Laycock skipped rink will be back on the ice for a pair of games on Tuesday. They have a tough match-up with 4-0 Northern Ontario at 9 a.m. and then take on 0-4 Nunavut in the night draw at 7 p.m.

In last night’s draw eight action, Alberta (3-1) beat Newfoundland (1-3), 9-2; Brad Gushue’s Team Canada (4-0) handed Mike McEwen’s Wildcard team (3-1) their first loss in a tight 6-5 game; the Northwest Territories (2-2) topped Nova Scotia (2-2), 7-3; and Yukon (1-3) beat British Columbia (0-4), 8-2.

Gushue Breaks Record... Team Canada skip Brad Gushue set the Brier record for most victories as he picked up his 114th career victory at the Brier with Monday morning's 8-4 win over the Northwest Territories. Gushue won his first Brier in 2017 in his 14th career appearance.
