The Moose Jaw Lawn Bowling Club is looking for some new blood.

While the pandemic has effectively canceled the big events from the provincial and national standpoint, Daniel Morin said club members can come there four nights a week. Morin said they've had to change the way they do things this year.

“Everybody has to sign a waiver,” Morin said. “We’re trying to keep people to a minimum in the clubhouse. Only one at a time… but we’re only playing maximum pairs. We can’t play triples or fours, which is a bummer but it’s kind of OK because we’ve got such a small club.”

The pandemic has limited the number of people that can be in or out, but they are able to take people who may be interested in trying out the sport.

“We have a drop-in fee, so if anyone wants to come try it when members are bowling we have evening bowling from 7 till close, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday,” Morin said.

The club is hoping to smash the stereotype that lawn bowling is only for a certain age group.

“It’s not just an old person’s game,” Morin said. “I thought it was an old person’s game when I tried it… but there’s so much variability in this game, I fell in love with it the first time I tried it.”

They have drop-in rates of $5 per person for those who wish to try out the sport, four weeknights every week. In the spirit of inclusiveness, Moose Jaw Pride is inviting its members out one night a week.
