One local organization is lending a helping hand to another with Friday's announcement of the title sponsor for the Moose Jaw and District Sports Hall of Fame.

The Moose Jaw Police Association has stepped to the plate with a $5,000 commitment and a five-year deal to be the title sponsor for the new hall of fame here in the Friendly City.

“Very grateful,” said Larry Graham, president of the MJDSHF. “We think it's a good match with the history that we're trying to promote and the Police Association's long association with sport in Moose Jaw.”

The MJPA has a history in the city of being involved with sports, including the recently opened bike park, which was built by the Association.

Corporal Cam Lewis, executive member with the MJPA, said that they were very excited be a part of the new hall of fame.

“When this opportunity came to support this endeavour that really pays tribute and homage to Moose Jaw and it's sports heroes, we were excited to get on board and behind it,” said Lewis.

“We were really overjoyed to do this and get behind this great cause that this committee has brought forward to the city. We think it's just a fantastic way to highlight what's really great about Moose Jaw, some of the great people and our sports heroes.”

The MJDSHF will induct their inaugural class on Friday, Nov. 6. The induction ceremony and banquet will be held at Mosaic Place that night. Tickets are available at tickets.mosaicplace.ca until Oct. 31.
