Members of the Saskatchewan Dragoons are in Europe this week to take part in ceremonies to honor Canadian soldiers killed in the Great War.

 

17 members of the Saskatchewan Dragoons are in Europe this week to take part in a ceremony honoring the battle of Vimy Ridge.

Local Soldiers played a key role in the battle and a large role during the entire war being thrust into some of the most dangerous battles fought. When all was said and done the local group was nick named the Suicide Battalion.

The Battalion lost 1,433 soldiers with 3,484 men wounded, a casualty rate of 91.5 percent. For their bravery and dedication the battalion also won 16 battle honors in a span of just 27 months.

Monday is the 90th Anniversary of Vimy Ridge.
