With the long weekend now here, many travellers will heading to the United States for a visit.

Canadian Border Services Agency is expecting higher traffic volumes throughout the holiday weekend, particularly on Sunday and Monday.

"We do want to remind travellers to plan ahead for their Thanksgiving long weekend. We do anticipated that there will be higher traffic volumes this holiday weekend, especially on the Sunday and Monday," said Luke Reimer with CBSA has these travel tips.

The North Portal port of entry is open 24-7 and has the greatest capacity to process large volumes of travellers. Reimer says travellers can see the wait times at the North Portal online.

"You can you our Border Wait Times services to check lineups at North Portal by subscribing to the Twitter feed to see the listing on the go. Also on our website, you can view US and Canada-bound wait times," he said.

Reimer also advises to cross early in the day to beat the border rush.
