The Moose Jaw Mallards lost a heartbreaker to come one win away from advancing into the provincial final.

Moose Jaw dropped a 4-3 game to the Muenster Red Sox in the semifinal on Sunday at the Baseball Saskatchewan Bantam AA Tier 2 Championship in Macklin.

Josh Auger struck out 12 over 5 2/3 innings of work to give his team a chance of coming away with the win.

The Mallards built up a 3-0 lead after four innings on Muenster, but the Red Sox started to chip away at Moose Jaw's lead with one run in the fifth. They tied the game with two in the sixth and then won the game in the seventh.

Sam Caplette and Cole Breitkreuz had two hits each in the loss, while Kyle Duncan drove in a pair of runs for the Mallards.

Moose Jaw went 2-1 in the round robin to secure their spot in the playoff round on Sunday.

Prairie Dogs' Season Ends in Semifinal

The Moose Jaw Prairie Dogs fell just short at their provincials over the weekend, closing the book on a fantastic season.

Moose Jaw lost out, 15-5, to the Swift Current 57s in the semifinals on Sunday at the Baseball Saskatchewan Mosquito AA Tier 1 Championship in Lloydminster.

Owen Csada struck out three in two innings of work in the loss.

The Prairie Dogs went 2-1 in the round robin. They beat the Battleford Beavers, 15-10, on Friday and the Yorkton Cardinals, 15-0, on Saturday. Moose Jaw lost 14-10 to the Lumsden Cubs in their final round robin game.

The Prairie Dogs went 25-7 over the course of the season.

Canucks Can't Repeat in League Playoffs

The Moose Jaw Canucks lost 12-5 to the Regina White Sox on Sunday to come up short in their bid to repeat as champions in the Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League's Midget AA Playoffs.

The Canucks went 1-2 during round robin play over the weekend. They beat the Weyburn Beavers 2-1 on Saturday morning, but dropped a 9-6 game to the Lumsden Cubs in the afternoon to make Sunday's game a must-win.

Tyler Lorenz threw a complete game in the loss to the White Sox, allowing six earned runs on ten hits with two walks and one strikeout.

The Canucks will now turn their attention to the Baseball Saskatchewan Midget AA Tier 2 Championship this weekend, which they will be co-hosting with Regina.

Regals Shutout by Devils Saturday

The Moose Jaw Regals couldn't get their offence going on Saturday at Ross Wells Park as they dropped a 2-0 game to the Regina Devils in Regina Optimist Junior Baseball League action.

Jordan Logan went 1-for-3 with a stolen base out of the lead-off spot, Kaleb Wilson was 1-for-3, Tyler Hudson finished 1-for-1 and Weston Mergal was 1-for-2 as the Regals were held to just four hits in the loss.

Wyatt Riendeau started in the loss, striking out three over two shutout innings.

Hudson allowed both runs to the Devils in his 1 1/3 inning of work. He gave up three hits and walked two.

Chris Cooper threw 2 2/3 shutout innings, while Dawson Kurz shut the door in the seventh to give the Regals a chance to come back.

Moose Jaw put runners on first and second in the bottom of the seventh, but couldn't cash them in.

The Regals will head to Regina to take on the Pirates on Tuesday night and then they host the Regina Reds in their regular season finale on Wednesday.

The Regals will be in Regina this weekend for the Baseball Saskatchewan Junior AAA Championship, starting on Friday.
