In their daily update released Saturday afternoon, the Saskatchewan government reported there were 224 new cases of COVID-19 across the province, and 87 recoveries. More than half of the new cases were reported in the Regina zone, where there were 122 new cases.

Across the province, there are now 1,817 active cases.

In addition to the new cases reported in Regina, there were also 28 new cases reported in Saskatoon, 18 in the South Central zone, 13 in the North East zone, 11 in the South East zone, 10 in the North West, nine in the North Central zone, four in the Far North West and Central West zones, three in the Central East zone and two in the Far North East zone. There were an additional four cases that are pending residence information.

The administration of COVID-19 vaccines continued, with 4,814 doses of the vaccines administered on Friday. There have now been 167,509 doses administered across Saskatchewan.

Of the doses, 1,517 were in Saskatoon, 1,372 in Regina, 1,371 in the Central East zone, 239 in the North Central zone, 203 in the North West zone, 91 in the South Central zone, 11 in the Far North East zone and 10 in the Far North Central zone.

In the update, it was reported there have been 1,240 cases of variants of concern identified in Saskatchewan, with 1,041 in Regina. There were 80 in the South Central zone, 75 in the South East, 24 in the Central East, 18 in Saskatoon, and one in the Far North East and Central West. The cases had previously been reported as presumptive positives, but for public reporting and contact tracing, the cases are being treated as confirmed.
