School board candidate Matt Jacobs

With under a week to go, subdivision 6 is starting to fill up as more candidates toss their names in the mix for spot on the Prairie South School Board.

The latest is 32 year old Matt Jacobs who is currently pursuing his bachelor degree in social-work at the University of Regina but also works part-time for Golden West Radio in Moose Jaw.

"I really thought about the things that are important to me," explained Jacobs when asked about running for a trustee position, saying it was really a no-brainer.  "Children, family, schools and community.  In considering all that, I think that I'd like a part of leading the learning community and building a better community at large."

Jacobs recently became a father and recognizes, now more than ever, that a pre-kindergarten program with early childhood education is vital to the community.  He's worked previously as an educational assistant with the Regina Public School Division.
