Everyone contributed on Friday night for the Moose Jaw Miller Express as they won for the first time this week, beating the Yorkton Cardinals, 9-3, at Jubilee Field.

Moose Jaw snaps a three-game losing skid with the win and improves to 19-20 on the year in the Western Major Baseball League.

Mitchell Robinson and Brooks Benson both hit home runs during a seven-run seventh inning for the Millers, which allowed them to pull away from the Cardinals for the win.

Yorkton got on the board first on a solo home run from Dillion Champagne in the first inning.

The score stayed that way until Moose Jaw product Reece Helland drove in third baseman John Prudhom with a sac-fly in the fifth inning. The Millers made it 2-1 in the sixth with an RBI-single from first baseman Scott Platt.

Leading 2-1, the Millers exploded in the seventh inning, sending ten hitters to the plate and scoring seven runs on seven hits.

Robinson, who has stepped up to play in the field in between starts on the mound, opened the frame with a solo home run. After Moose Jaw scored three more runs in the frame, Benson stepped to the plate and tacked on three more with a home run.

Yorkton answered with two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but they couldn't do any more damage as the Millers held on for the win.

Platt led the offence with a 3-for-5 night with a double, an RBI and a run scored.

The top three in the order had a strong game, as catcher Ty Barclay went 2-for-5 out of the lead-off spot; shortstop Geordie McDougall was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI; and D.H. Blake Gallagher was also 2-for-5 with a run.

Helland, in his first start of the season, went 1-for-3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI.

One night after hitting a home run while playing first base, Markus Gregson was solid in his start for the Millers, allowing one run on one hit and two walks over five innings. He struck out four in the win.

Tannar Galey, Travis Edgar, Cortland Hampton and Gallagher all pitched an inning of relief to help seal the win. Galey, Hampton and Gallagher held the Cardinals scoreless, while Yorkton managed two runs off Edgar.

Yorkton starter Logan MacDougall allowed two runs on nine hits over six innings in the loss.

The Millers will now return home for three games in the next two days at Ross Wells Park. They host Weyburn for a doubleheader at 5 and 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Moose Jaw then welcomes in Swift Current on Sunday night at 7 p.m. for a big Eastern Division game. The 57s are three games up on the Millers for third place.
