October is now Disability Employment Awareness Month, thanks to a proclamation made by the Saskatchewan Government. The month will be celebrated by employers, those searching for jobs and by the agencies that help make the transition happen.

"The Ministry of Economy has a program called the Employability Assistance Program that supports a network of community based services." explained Alastair McFadden with the Ministry of the Economy. "Those support services help people prepare for work, find jobs and maintain employment over time."

The reason for the month is to raise awareness with employers about hiring people experiencing disabilities.
