In just under six weeks the Moose Jaw Humane Society in conjunction with Country 100 will be hosting their 10th annual Paws For Pledges Radiothon.

On November 4, Country 100's Courtney Fielder will be broadcasting live for 12 hours at the Moose Jaw Humane Society from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with this year’s goal of raising $85,000.

“We really hope the community comes together for us; they have every single year,” says Dana Haukaas, Executive Director of the Moose Jaw Humane Society. “We’ve set our goal at a reasonable amount and we hope to see everyone out that day.”

Much of the funds will go towards the day-to-day operations of the animal shelter as well as vet bills for animals that they take in.

Thanks to the generosity of the people of Moose Jaw and surrounding communities in years past, the radiothon has raised over $800,000. If they reach or exceed their fundraising goal, that will put their grand total over $900,000 – one step closer to $1 million.

“It’s pretty emotional for us by the end when we announce that grand total, it’s always a little teary,” adds Haukaas.

Last year, the radiothon raised $92, 911, which exceeded their $85,000 fundraising goal.

If anyone is interested in donating to the humane society leading up to the radiothon or at any time, can do so on their website.
