The Moose Jaw High School Invitational Badminton Tournament will be keeping the court at Peacock Collegiate busy throughout the day on Saturday.  There will be 12 teams from 11 different schools taking part in the tournament, which includes all divisions from boys, girls and mixed, singles and doubles.

“This is a pretty popular tournament, everybody seems to be looking forward to it,” said Kevin Toth, the tournament commissioner.  “Many of the teams that are coming have come in the past and this seems to be a tournament they look forward to, so we're looking forward to having them.”

The schools that will be participating include: Central, Peacock and Vanier locally, and then Assiniboia, Gravelbourg, Kincaid, Avonlea, Regina O'Neill (two teams), College Mathieu, Glentworth and Rockglen.

“Throughout this tournament, the talent level should be similar to last year,” said Toth.  “It won't be quite the level that we had maybe ten years ago, but it should be similar to the last couple of years.”

All the action starts at 9:00am on Saturday and the tournament will wrap up sometime between 3:00 and 4:00pm.

The local high school season is into high gear with the second senior and junior league nights going this past week.  The District tournament will be held at the end of the month on April 27th.  That will be followed by Regionals on May 4th and Provincials on May 11th.
