Greg Lawrence, formerly the Sask Party MLA for Moose Jaw Wakamow, has not been personally present for either of two appearances in Moose Jaw Provincial Court to this date

Lawrence announced on Jan. 30 that he was resigning from the Saskatchewan Party Caucus because an "active police investigation is occurring into historical complaints unrelated to his duties as an MLA.” A day later, the Moose Jaw Police Service sent out a press release with news that Lawrence had been charged with assault and assault by choking.

Lawrence had already announced in Sep. 2023 that he would not seek re-election following a single-vehicle motorcycle crash in early August that left him facing a long recovery. He is sitting as an independent until fall elections.

Lawrence has been the MLA for Moose Jaw Wakamow since 2011 and was re-elected in 2016 and 2020.

He is being represented by Estes Fonkalsrud.

His first appearance was Monday, March 18, in which the case was adjourned to awaiting further disclosure of evidence. After a brief discussion in court on April 15, Lawrence's case was adjourned again to May 13.

It is possible location or bench adjustments might need to be made to avoid potential conflicts due to Lawrence's long history as a public figure and his many connections in the community of Moose Jaw.
