Local firefighters are taking part in a massive memorial service today to honour two fallen comrades in Manitoba.

Six Moose Jaw firefighters are among about 80 from Saskatchewan who are waking up in Winnipeg this morning.

Our firefighters are there for a memorial service for two senior Winnipeg firefighters who died in a house fire last week.

President of the local firefighters union Bill Howes says Regina firefighters rented a bus and invited others from the area. "Swift Current, Moose Jaw, Regina, Yorkton, and maybe even Weyburn. Some members from Saskatoon and Prince Albert are flying I think."

Howes says it's a show of respect to the fallen firefighters but it's also important to support to the other Winnipeg firefighters.
