Just like the roads, fields, rivers and numerous events that have been cancelled or postponed, the rain is having a negative impact on the Moose Jaw multiplex project.

The large amount of moisture in recent weeks has caused problems with several aspects of the project at both the downtown facility and the soccer field house.

Parks and Recreation Director Jody Hauta says the construction crews are hoping some warm weather will move in to help dry things up.

"The rain has obviously affected the project, especially in the lower levels of the facility. You can see a lot of standing water and a lot of mud and that's affecting a lot of the work, especially with regards to utility services and preparing to get concrete in on the grade level."

At the soccer field house the rain has delayed the preparation of the turf installation and the installation of utilities, pushing the grand opening from July to the end of August.
