MYRNA COZMA

February 1st, 1933 - May 28th, 2024

Myrna Cozma aged 91 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away on Tuesday, May 28th, 2024.  Myrna was born in Veregin, SK and raised on the family farm with her parents and 6 siblings near Rhein, Saskatchewan.

Myrna married Elie (Lee) Cozma in 1956 and made Moose Jaw their home in 1961.  The house on 4th Avenue NW was her home for 60 years until she moved to Crescent Park Retirement Villa in 2018 and then, for the last year of her life, Providence Place.

Many in the community will remember Myrna through her working years, mainly at Woolco, Heasman’s Ladies Store, People’s Jewellers, Dale’s Jewellers, Doris Sitter Dance Studio, and especially her volunteer work at Providence Place.  She was also a regular at Smitty’s in the mall, even having her own menu item “Myrna toast.”

Myrna loyally visited and attended to her husband for the 7 years while he was in Providence Place.

She is probably best known as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, as she volunteered much of her time and energy to share her beliefs and her hope for the future with many in the community.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lee in 1997; parents, Michael and Anna Koroluk; and all her siblings.  Myrna is survived by her son, Rod (Carla); granddaughter, Brette (Adrian) Hackl, great-grandsons, Oliver and Samuel, all of Regina, SK, and granddaughter, Erin Cozma of Moose Jaw; son, Curt (Kit) of Edmonton, AB, grandson Christopher (Jovita) of Winkler, MB, granddaughter Kalissa (Dennis) Hunter, great-granddaughter Charli of Grande Prairie, AB.

Myrna retained her keen mind and sense of humour until the very end when she fell asleep in death with family by her side.  A thank you to staff of Providence Place to providing care in her final days.

As per Myrna’s wishes, there will be a Private Family Service.

Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Michelle Ellis, Funeral Director 306-693-4550 www.moosejawfuneralhome.com
