Beginning today, Oct. 1, Prairie South School Division is making some changes to their initial back to school plan.

With a month of school already under their belt, the division is expanding the list of people and groups who can come into schools. Masks are required for all outside visitors when sharing common areas or classrooms with students and during indoor transitions.

The expanded list now includes the following:

  • School students and staff
  • Parents as necessary in individual circumstances
  • SCC volunteers when specifically supporting LIP projects
  • Family Outreach workers
  • Emergency Services Personel - police, fire, ambulance, social workers
  • Division administrative and learning staff
  • Autism Support workers
  • Mental Health workers
  • SWIS Settlement workers
  • Public Health/Homecare workers
  • Wascana Rehabilitation Centre support workers
  • Hunger in Moose Jaw workers
  • Delivery staff (school deliveries only)
  • Contractors (by appointment only)

In addition, community-run preschool/playschools may begin to operate at a school if there is dedicated space for this purpose. No space or materials may be shared among these groups and any school program. Permission must be obtained from the school's principal before these operations may begin.

Prekindergarten nutrition programs may also resume as well in accordance with the Re-Open Saskatchewan Plan.

All these changes have been presented to and approved by local Public Health officials. Prairie South says it believes that student and teacher safety can still be maintained with the adjustments in place.
