Peacock's Nathan Fall stiff arms Vanier's Matt Morris on his way to 214 yards.

The Peacock Tornadoes found some legs on Saturday afternoon at Gutheridge Field as they used returning running back Nathan Fall to run past the Vanier Vikings, 34-0.

Fall dominated in his first game of the season, carrying the ball 16 times for 214 yards and a touchdown.

"My fullback really opened the holes for me and I was able to get some yards," said Fall about his big day along the ground.  "It was a little tiring, I need to get back into shape still, but it was good."

With a solid running game going, that also opened up more passing lanes for the Tornadoes offence as Sawyer Buettner threw for 134 yards and three touchdowns in an offensive explosion.

"We've been working on some things, obviously it's still a work in progress, but we're working on getting our running game going as well as the pass game, so it was nice to have that balance," said Peacock head coach Blake Buettner after the team's second win of the season.

"We were happy with the kid's effort, we've still got a long ways to go."

Vanier played Peacock tough in the first quarter as their defence held strong and there was no score after one, but the Tornadoes started to roll in the second quarter.

Buettner hit Caleb Havanka for a one-yard touchdown after a 22-yard run by Fall got them into scoring territory.  They added to their lead before half with a 21-yard field goal by Kyle Arndt to make it 10-0.

Fall continued to turn out big runs with a 59-yarder down to the 13-yard line late in the first half, but their drive stalled and a third down gambled failed at the 11 as Vanier took over on downs looking to build some momentum before the break.

Nothing was working for the Viking offence though and they ended up giving up a safety to make it 12-0 heading into the second half.

The Vikings didn't get off to the start they wanted in the third quarter though as Haydenn Terrian's pass was picked off by Zach Huschi.  Peacock was unable to do anything with the turnover though and didn't find the endzone again until 1:36 mark of the third when Fall punched in a six-yard TD for a 19-0 lead.

Lane Bossence scored a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns from 24 and 9-yards out to finish off the big 34-0 win by the Tornadoes over the still struggling defending champions.

Vanier head coach Doug Panko says it was a frustrating game as they just couldn't get anything going offensively, "The boys tried there's no doubt about it, but Peacock is a strong team and they certainly came at us in a physical way and in football you have to adapt as you go and we just could gain the advantage on them.

"You're looking for that opportunity to somehow gain some momentum and we just couldn't get that.  No lack of effort on the kids, but we just couldn't get the wheels turning."

Peacock out gained Vanier 390-to-51 on offence.  Terrian finished 8-of-18 passing for 51 yards and had seven carries for minus-12 yards.

Receiver Matt Morris was also slowed down by Peacock as he finished with just two catches for 11 yards on the day after picking up 239 yards in the first three games.

The loss drops Vanier down to 1-3 on the year, while Peacock improves to 2-1.  The Tornadoes will host Swift Current at Gutheridge Field on Friday night and Vanier is off until Saturday when they travel to Estevan.
