The Christmas spirit was alive and well in Moose Jaw Wednesday as Alison Shillington and her grade 1 and 2 class from Lindale School helped out the Humane Society. The students brought in food and toys for the resident pets to help the animals have a Merry Christmas.

The class had been studying a unit on wants and needs and decided that they would help those animals with no home this season. "Instead of a Christmas gift exchange they each brought a gift for either a cat or a dog, put it under the tree." said Shillington. "Then instead of opening it up and giving it to each other, we opened it up and discussed what it was, who it was for and then we brought it here to present to the shelter."

The unit took about two weeks to complete and Shillington was very proud with her students.
