The ice is in and public skating is back at the Kinsmen Sportsplex arena.

Starting this fall there are a number of new public skate times that will be taking place in the arena when it comes to public skates, sticks and pucks times and shinny leagues.

New this year will be Tuesday afternoon public skates and free Saturday afternoon sticks and pucks skates.

Noon hour public skates will continue as well as free Friday evening skates, a variety of evening and weekend family skates and shinny leagues.

“We are working on some very exciting shinny leagues this year for adults, seniors, teens and families, so they can kind of enjoy a time to play shinny inside,” said recreation services manager Scott Osmachenko.

All of the free skates are funded through Saskatchewan Lotteries and the Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association.

“We are working on some Friday night free times, some free sticks and pucks, and then especially over the holidays and school breaks, we're going to program free skating for those days. All that funding from you know, buying your lottery tickets and from the Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association go towards just offsetting the costs,” Osmachenko said.

COVID-19 restriction will include that everyone who enters the facility must wear a non-medical mask. Skaters under 18 years of age have the option to remove their masks while they are skating. Skating aids for new skaters are available at the arena.

You can pre-register by visiting the City of Moose Jaw’s website or using the mobile app.

The Pla-Mor Palace arena is scheduled to open in October.
